Gear I currently use

Gear I used to own in the past

I started with photography in 1988 when I first used one of my father’s old cameras. This was a Rollei 35 S. The Rollei 35 series had a fix 40 mm lens and was one of the smallest 35 mm cameras ever made.

In 1990 (I was 20 then) I bought a Minolta Dynax 7000i. The cool thing there was the expansion card system that provided a way to add features to the camera, such as multi-spot metering, or re-program the built-in AE modes to favor faster shutter speeds or smaller apertures, such as the sports action.

A couple of years later I then exchanged the Dynax 7000i for two newer Minolta bodies. The Minolta Dynax 7xi and the 9xi that I bought were for that time quite impressive in terms of technological ability. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what lenses I had.

In 2002, I bought a Leica Digilux 1. The camera really was a somewhat retro looking camera. This was my first digital camera that I kept it for many years and I really liked the resulting pictures (even with only 4 mega pixels!).

In 2009 the Panasonic GH1 was then my last camera before moving to Fuji. The GH1 was the first fully compliant camera with the new micro four-third (MFT) system standard, and included also High Definition (HD) video capability. This was a smaller and lighter interchangeable lens camera when compared with traditional Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR)s. I (literally) never shot any videos with the camera but it served my (and my wife) many years on many trips.
