Guatemala is a very interesting country to visit. Lots of colors, art and traditions (i.e. the amazing temples in Tikal). For sure one of the cheapest countries to travel to at the time. I remember the traditional hearty "desayuno" (breakfast) with the real handmade corn tortilla, beans and cheese providing a solid base for the day trips.
